#896 Cloud security architect (AWS / security / cloud) – remote (in office if needed)

Introduction

For our end-user client we are looking for a temporarily (or freelance) Cloud security architect.

Start date: September 9, 2024
Duration: 6+ months (40 hours a week)
Location:
fully remote, with occasional need to travel (living in the Netherlands though!)

Organization

We are currently looking for an experienced Security Architect (interim) to support our journey to mature cloud security capabilities. In this role you will collaborate closely with the stakeholders from the IT organization and the security team.

Function

You will have a leading role in providing guidance to the technology team how to use cloud native technology in a secure manner.

As a Security Architect you will engage with engineers from various parts of the international organization to ensure to deliver the right solutions.
After connecting to relevant stakeholders throughout the technology organization,
1.) performing an initial reconnaissance on how certain capabilities are being used today 
2.) and where potential improvements can be identified, 
3.) improved guidance will be created for which you will subsequently be providing support and
4.) coaching to ensure a smooth implementation.
n.b. several areas of improvement have already been identified and projects have been defined to implement these improvements.

Requirements

Skills and experience:
– Capable and experienced in designing and implementing complex cloud solution patterns for AWS that are secure by design.
– Working with the various technology teams to ensure the delivery of reuseable, scalable, secure design patterns that are supported by the teams who will implement.
– Guiding and coaching the various technology teams for implementing the architecture and support them with any challenges or impediments they are facing in this journey.
– Knowledgeable and experienced in AWS technologies broadly used such as WAF, IAM policies, KMS, AWS Backup, IaC based on CloudFormation / AWS CDK, VPC, Elastic Load Balancing, CloudFront, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS and DynamoDB.
– Hands-on security architect who is passionate about his or her work and takes proactive approach to cloud security.
– Ability to work in an in an international context, appreciating cultural differences and the ability to influence multiple levels within an organization are considered key success factors in this role.
– Effective communication and social skills in English is a prerequisite to operate effectively in the organization.
– Willingness to travel if needed.
